The US and Global Turbulence map layers in ForeFlight use distinct models to provide different turbulence forecasts.
US Turbulence Layer: This layer is based on NOAA's Graphical Turbulence Guidance (GTG) model, which forecasts multiple types of turbulence over the United States, including mountain wave turbulence.

Global Turbulence Layer: The Global layer is derived from the Global Forecast System (GFS). Unlike the US layer, this global model focuses on clear air turbulence (CAT) without including mountain wave turbulence.
