ForeFlight's icing layers have two options when connected to the internet: Icing (US) and Icing (Global), each sourced differently.
-
Icing (US): This layer uses Forecast Icing Product (FIP) data, with forecasts updated hourly and extending up to 18 hours ahead.
-
Icing (Global): This layer is based on the Global Forecast System (GFS) weather model, which updates every six hours, offering a broader, though coarser, view of icing potential worldwide.
