The Remarks section of a flight plan is used to add information that may enhance the safety or efficiency of a flight. This section is also where permit and slot approval numbers are entered for international flights. Common entries for domestic flights include phrases like:
- NO SIDS STARS,
- NO OVER WATER,
- 3 PRACTICE APPROACHES AT KSGR,
- NEW INSTRUMENT PILOT,
- ADCUS.
ForeFlight automatically formats Remarks to uppercase when transmitting flight plans to ATC. If printing the ICAO flight plan and filing it manually, it’s recommended to use uppercase for consistency. Uppercase is required for military DD1801 flight plans.
IMPORTANT: Avoid using a slash “/” in the Remarks section, as it designates the end of a flight plan section and may cut off any text that follows. For example, entering NO SID/STAR will result in only NO SID being transmitted.
