The Filing Messages section in Dispatch provides an overview of ATC communications related to a flight. This includes a list of all sent flight plan messages and any AFTN messages received from ATC.
Outbound Messages Sent by Dispatch:
Dispatch automatically determines and sends the appropriate message types, including:
- FPL – Flight Plan Message
- CHG – Modification Message, sent when changes are made to an already transmitted flight plan.
- DLA – Delay Message, advising ATC of a new requested departure time.
- CNL – Cancellation Message
- SPL – Supplementary Flight Plan Message, sent only in response to an ATC request for supplementary flight plan data.
Inbound Messages Received by Dispatch:
For some regions, such as the United States and European countries, Dispatch interprets incoming ATC messages, including:
- ACK – Acknowledgment for FPL, CHG, DLA, or CNL messages.
- REJ – Rejection of FPL, CHG, DLA, or CNL messages.
- FLS – Suspension of flight plan (Eurocontrol IFPS). These are sent if the flight plan gets suspended due to a route revalidation, or the aircraft has not taken off within 30 minutes of its ETD.
- DES – De-suspension of a previously suspended flight plan (Eurocontrol).
- SAM, SRM, SLC – Slot allocation, revision, and cancellation messages, typically in cases of ground delay (Eurocontrol).
- RQS, RQP – Requests for supplementary flight plan data (RQS) or the re-submission of a flight plan by ATC (RQP).
Handling of Unknown Messages
Messages that Dispatch cannot interpret are marked as UNK (unknown). An icon will appear on the ATC Data tab and flight list to indicate the presence of an unknown message.
