Grid Minimum Off-Route Altitude (MORA)/Lowest Safe Altitude (LSALT) ensures safe navigation by providing terrain and obstacle clearance within a defined grid area.
Obstacle Clearance
- 1,000 feet above terrain and structures where the highest elevation is 5,000 feet MSL or lower.
- 2,000 feet above terrain and structures where the highest elevation is 5,001 feet MSL or higher.
Coverage
- Applies to a one-degree latitude by one-degree longitude grid area.
Usage
- Applied to off-route trajectories (e.g., DCTs).
- Displayed as a grid on the Map (if enabled).
- Used to determine Minimum Safe Altitude (MSA) on the NavLog, based on the highest grid MORA value along a route segment.
- Shown as warnings in Dispatch, ForeFlight Web, and ForeFlight Mobile Flights view.
