The green jet image on IFR charts is a holdover from printed paper charts, where the image is used to align adjacent charts. Each chart has half of the jet image, and when two charts are joined, the two halves create a single picture of a jet to confirm proper alignment. In ForeFlight, this image remains as part of the printed chart map imagery, though alignment is handled automatically within the app.
