The Stratus 2 and 2S auto-calibrate when powered on, though calibration may take some time. For optimal results, ensure a GPS lock during calibration to provide the Stratus with accurate data. This auto-calibration occurs regardless of the Stratus' position.
If manual calibration is required for straight-and-level flight, follow these steps:
- Connect the Stratus to the iPad or iPhone.
- Open ForeFlight Mobile.
- Go to the Maps view.
- Tap the Attitude Indicator button at the top.
- Tap the settings button above the "data source" label (may display as "AHRS") in the lower-left corner of the AHRS view.
- In the pop-up window, tap the Calibrate button in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Zero Pitch & Bank to set the current orientation as level.
- Alternatively, use the four Pitch & Bank adjustment arrows to fine-tune pitch and roll.
- Tap Save in the upper-left corner to save the calibration.
- Tap Cancel to discard changes and exit the calibration window.
Important Considerations:
- Saved Calibration: The Stratus saves manual AHRS calibrations across power cycles, preventing re-calibration after every restart. This feature is especially useful for tail-dragger aircraft or other situations where straight-and-level calibration on the ground isn't possible.
- Movement Between Flights: If the Stratus is moved from its location after calibration, the saved settings may become inaccurate, requiring re-calibration during the next flight.
