Older flight planning systems used wind shear values to estimate turbulence by assessing changes in wind velocity with altitude. ForeFlight's advanced turbulence forecast models provide a more accurate match to actual conditions, enhanced by graphical depictions of turbulence along the route. ForeFlight does not offer wind shear values except for Dispatch customers, who can access them through the Custom NavLog Builder by following these steps:
STEP 1. Log into Dispatch.
STEP 2. Select Tools.
STEP 3. Select NavLog Builder.
STEP 4. Select Edit next to a Custom NavLog layout or New Layout if creating a new custom Navlog.
STEP 5. Select Add Blocks.
STEP 6. From the Information Sections dropdown menu, select Custom Waypoint List.
STEP 7. Click on an existing Waypoint Data column to change to Wind Shear.
STEP 8. Give the Header a name.
STEP 9. From the Mapping dropdown menu, select Wind Shear.
STEP 10. Select Confirm.
STEP 11. Select Add Info Box.
