The top of the Profile View displays Highest Point, Clearance, and First Strike values for the route entered in the FPL Editor.
Highest Point, Clearance, and First Strike
Highest Point
The Highest Point field displays the MSL height of the highest terrain or obstacle along the route within the user-specified Route Corridor.
Clearance
The Clearance field displays the lowest height above the terrain or obstacles along the route. Only hazards within the user-specified Route Corridor are evaluated to determine clearance. The calculated clearance excludes the portions of the flight within a 5 nm radius around the departure and destination airports to account for the climb and descent phases of flight.
NOTE: The Clearance varies based on wind forecasts. ForeFlight uses the forecast winds based on the flight ETD + trip length.
Clearance ignores the area within 5 nm around the departure and destination airports (as shown inside the blue dashed lines above).
First Strike
The First Strike field displays the first point at which the planned flight path intersects terrain or obstacles within the user-specified Route Corridor. To account for takeoff and landing, the first strike determination excludes those portions of the flight within a 1 nm radius around the departure and destination airports.
First Strike ignores the area within 1 nm around the departure and destination airports (as shown inside the blue dashed lines above).
