ForeFlight Mobile provides options to view radar imagery through composite and lowest tilt radar layers, depending on the radar layer selected.
Composite Radar layers blend radar returns from different elevation scans. The strongest returns are compiled into one map layer.
Lowest Tilt Radar layers only show returns from a 0.5º tilt angle.
The radar layers available for selection depend on the data source connected—Internet, ADS-B, or XM. The following is a breakdown of the radar layers and the associated scan types:
- Radar: Internet-sourced composite radar layer.
- Radar (Classic): Internet-sourced composite radar layer.
- Radar (Lowest Tilt): Internet-sourced lowest tilt radar layer.
- Radar (ADS-B): ADS-B–sourced low-resolution composite radar layer.
- Radar (XM Comp): XM–sourced medium-resolution composite radar layer.
- Radar (XM Base): XM–sourced medium-resolution lowest tilt radar layer.
