Aircraft manufacturers often account for moveable parts when determining an aircraft's loading envelope. In these scenarios, action is not necessary for retracted gear.
Aircraft that do not account for gear retraction in the envelope may provide information on how the movement affects the aircraft's CG. For example, Moment increase with landing gear retracted 965.0 in lb. To account for these scenarios, enter the aircraft's Gear Retraction Moment Change in the aircraft profile.
Entering Gear Retraction Moment Change
To enter a gear retraction moment change, follow the steps below:
- Open the Aircraft view.
- Tap the appropriate aircraft.
- Scroll to the Weight and Balance section.
- Tap the weight and balance profile.
- Scroll to the bottom of the view and enter the appropriate value in the Gear Retraction Moment Change field.
When calculating the weight and balance of an aircraft with a gear retraction moment change value entered, the CG will shift slightly just after takeoff and before landing.
