Depending on its manufacturing date, the Bose Model A20 headset may or may not support ForeFlight Mobile audio alerts via Bluetooth. Early models of the Bose A20 allow Bluetooth cellphone connections but don’t support music via Bluetooth, meaning ForeFlight’s Runway Proximity Advisor™ alerts, which use the music channel, won’t play through Bluetooth on these older headsets.
In 2015, Bose upgraded the A20 to allow Bluetooth music, enabling ForeFlight audio alerts to transmit through Bluetooth. With the update, any music playing lowers when ForeFlight issues an alert and resumes afterward.
An update is available for earlier A20 models (pre-2015): Bose offers a version 2 cord assembly that adds Bluetooth music capability. Contact Bose at 800-233-4416 for this upgrade.
Alternatively, audio alerts can be heard using a male-to-male 3.5mm cord connecting the iPad’s headphone jack to the A20 control box or to an audio-in port on the audio panel, if available. Additionally, some pilots report success in adding Bluetooth music capability using a Blulink Adaptor.
