ForeFlight Mobile offers an array of information and capabilities, with some features available worldwide and others limited to specific regions.
This article is organized to highlight features available globally and those specific to certain regions. Note that the features listed here are selected highlights, not an exhaustive list of all app capabilities. Other resources that describe coverage are:

Country Support Lookup Table: A tool that allows the selection of a country to see coverage for:
- Government Terminal Procedures, Airport Diagrams, and Charts
- Government Documents
- Weather Radar (Internet-sourced)
- Flight Plan Filing Support
- Europe Region Charts, Data, and Plans Overview: A Europe-specific information page describing additional add-ons.
- ForeFlight for Australia: An Australia-specific information page describing Australian coverage.
The structure of this article is as follows:
Global Features
The following table describes items that are available globally.
Feature | Details |
---|---|
ADS-B Traffic |
ADS-B traffic is available air-to-air globally but depends on the frequency band (1090 MHz or 978 MHz) supported by a connected ADS-B In receiver. Traffic shown is limited to only those aircraft from which a position report is received. In the United States, TIS-B traffic from ADS-B towers is supported with the appropriate ADS-B In receiver. |
ADS-B Weather | ADS-B weather is limited to those countries that broadcast weather (primarily the United States and Territories). A compatible ADS-B In receiver connected to ForeFlight is required. |
Airport & Nav Data |
ForeFlight’s data-driven Aeronautical Map (Airport and navigation data) is driven by data from Jeppesen and is available regardless of whether a Jeppesen charts subscription has been purchased. |
Glide Advisor | Glide Advisor is available globally using terrain data (low- or high-resolution). GPS reception is required. |
GPS Coverage |
ForeFlight Mobile will receive GPS worldwide as long as GPS is available in that region. GPS receivers can be external devices or internal to iPhones or cellular-capable iPads. |
Hazard Advisor |
Hazard Advisor is available worldwide. |
Obstacles |
Obstacle information (obstacle markers) is based on Jeppesen obstacle data. |
Preflight Briefings |
ForeFlight provides briefing capabilities for flights between any two airports in the world. |
Procedure Advisor |
Procedure Advisor provides terminal procedure routing data from Jeppesen, including departure, arrival, and approach procedures. |
Route Advisor |
Global: Recommended routes provide wind and temperature-optimized routes between any two airports worldwide. (Requires a Performance Plus, Business Performance, or MFB Performance subscription) Europe: Suggested routes provided by EUROCONTROL when planning a flight between European airports. ForeFlight will evaluate a route intersecting EUROCONTROL airspace to determine if it satisfies route constraints. Recommended Routes will also consider EUROCONTROL constraints to provide valid routing. United States & Canada: ForeFlight provides recently cleared routes from ATC and NAV CANADA, as well as Preferred, TEC, and airway routes. |
Synthetic Vision |
Synthetic Vision uses Jeppesen’s high-resolution terrain datasets. (Requires a Pro Plus or Performance Plus subscription) |
Terrain |
Terrain topography can be presented as either low- or high-resolution terrain. |
Terrain Profile View |
Terrain Profile View uses either low- or high-resolution terrain to present terrain along the route of flight from in a side-view format. (Requires a Pro Plus or Performance Plus subscription) |
Weather Layer on the Map |
