A flight simulator may show that it is connected as a FreeFlight device because UDP port 4000 is being used to send data from the flight simulator to ForeFlight Mobile. ForeFlight Mobile listens to this port for data from FreeFlight ADS-B receivers, and any data received on this port is interpreted as coming from a FreeFlight device.
Resolution
Check the network connection settings for the flight simulator and ensure that it is not configured to use UDP port 4000. Switching to a different port should resolve this issue.
