If ForeFlight is slow to load or use, follow these steps to improve performance, particularly on older devices:
Force Reboot the Device
For devices without a Home button:
- Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
- Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears. The device will reboot in about a minute.
For devices with a Home button:
- Press and hold the Power button at the top while holding the Home button.
- Keep both buttons pressed until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
- Release both buttons when the Apple logo appears (this can take up to 20 seconds). The device will reboot in about a minute.
NOTE: For the iPhone 7, 8, and iPhone SE (2020), see this article: How to Force Restart the iPhone.
Close Other Apps
Running multiple apps in the background can slow down ForeFlight, so close unused apps as follows:
For devices without a Home button:
- From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom and pause in the middle of the screen to see open apps.
- Swipe left or right to find the app to close.
- Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.
- Tap on the bottom of the screen to exit.
For devices with a Home button:
- Press the Home button twice quickly to display open apps.
- Swipe left or right to find the app to close.
- Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.
- Press the Home button to exit.
These steps can help free up memory and processing power, improving ForeFlight’s responsiveness.
