To import a paper logbook into ForeFlight, it must be converted to a digital file. A ForeFlight logbook template is available to facilitate this process. If converting a paper logbook to a digital format seems overwhelming, there are companies that offer conversion services for a fee.
Alternatively, catch-up entries, which summarize flight data across multiple flights, can be created as a starting point for the ForeFlight logbook. For more information on creating catch-up entries, see: How do I create catch-up logbook entries?
The ForeFlight logbook template can be found and downloaded using the following steps:
- Log into ForeFlight on the Web.
- Select the Logbook button in the left menu.
- Select the Import tab.
- Select Download ForeFlight Template.
NOTE: Formatting notes for filling in the ForeFlight logbook template are provided on the same page where the template is downloaded. To read the formatting notes, click on Need help? Read formatting notes.
Transfer the aircraft and entries from the paper logbook into the template. Once complete, import the file to ForeFlight.
To import a CSV or TSV file containing logbook data into a ForeFlight account, do the following:
1. From the computer that has the saved logbook file, log into ForeFlight on the Web.
2. Select the Logbook tab from the left menu.
3. Select the Import Tab at the top of the page.
4. Drag and Drop the file into the importer or use the Browse Files option.
5. Select Import to Logbook.
WARNING: Importing a CSV or TSV file containing entries that have already been imported into the account will lead to duplicate Logbook entries. Verify that the CSVor TSV file only contains new entries prior to uploading.
