The difference between KML (filtered) and KML (full) downloads in ForeFlight is as follows:
-
KML (Full): This file contains all recorded Track Log data points. For most devices, this means data points are recorded at 1 Hz (every second). If a Stratus 2 is used, data points are recorded at 5 Hz (every 1/5th of a second). This file is more detailed but can become too large for longer flights, potentially exceeding Google Earth's point limit.
-
KML (Filtered): This file contains reduced Track Log data recorded at 1 Hz (one data point per second), which enables the display of longer flights in Google Earth. This reduction is particularly useful for high-frequency recordings, such as those made with a Stratus 2, but does not affect files already recorded at 1 Hz.
