To generate a DD-1801, perform the following:
STEP 1. While viewing a flight plan on the Flights page, tap on the Proceed To File button at the bottom of a Flight Plan.
STEP 2. Tap on Form Type and select DD-1801.
STEP 3. Enter the pilot’s rank and name (required fields).
STEP 4. Enter an optional phone number to receive text alerts from ForeFlight. Phone numbers will not be transmitted to ATC when filing electronically but will be sent to Base Ops. Filing messages are anonymized and cannot be attributed to any individual pilot in compliance with DOD privacy and liability regulations.
STEP 5. Enter an email address for Base Ops.
STEP 6. Review the rest of the form and enter any required information.
Filing with ATC and Base Ops
STEP 7. Once complete, tap File to file the DD-1801 with ATC and Base Ops. If ATC does not need to be notified, skip to Step 12.
STEP 8. A message appears to confirm the flight plan. Tap the green File button under the message to confirm the flight plan. A PDF of the DD-1801 appears for review.
STEP 9. Review the DD-1801, then tap the blue Sign & File button in the upper right corner. A signature pop-over appears.
STEP 10. Sign along the bottom line of the pop-over and tap Done when complete. A dark blue window will appear briefly, stating that the flight plan has been filed.
STEP 11. Once filed, the flight plan may be amended or canceled.
Filing with Base Ops Only
STEP 12. Tap the File Electronically button to OFF. The blue File button changes to Notify.
STEP 13. A message appears to confirm the flight plan. Tap the green Notify button under the message to confirm the flight plan. A PDF of the DD1801 appears for review.
STEP 14. Review the DD1801, then tap the blue Sign & Notify button in the upper right corner. A signature pop-over appears.
STEP 15. Sign along the bottom line of the pop-over and tap Done when complete. A dark blue window will appear briefly stating, that the flight plan has been filed.
STEP 16. Once filed, the flight plan may be amended or canceled.
