The remarks section of the flight plan is the field where you can put in any information that you believe could enhance the safety or efficiency of your flight. For international flights, the Remarks field is where permit and slot approval numbers are entered. Common entries in the Remarks section for domestic flights are NO SIDS STARS; NO OVER WATER; 3 PRACTICE APPROACHES AT KSGR, NEW INSTRUMENT PILOT, ADCUS.
ForeFlight will automatically format your remarks to uppercase when the flight plan is transmitted via the AFTN network to ATC. We recommend that you put your remarks in uppercase if you plan to print the ICAO and file the flight plan manually.
The military DD1801 flight plan must be in all upper-case letters, this includes the Remarks field.
Never put a slash " / " in the remarks section of a flight plan. A slash designates the ending of a flight plan section and will cut off any information that is put after it. For example, if you put NO SID/STAR, only the portion NO SID will be transmitted in the remarks section.
