To troubleshoot a GPS problem when using an external GPS receiver connected via Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
STEP 1: Is Wi-Fi turned ON in the iPad Settings App?
No: Stop Here. Turn Wi-Fi on by going to your iPad Settings app and tapping on Wi-Fi. Turn the Wi-Fi on.
Yes: Continue to the next step.
STEP 2: Go to the iPad Settings App > Wi-Fi. Does the GPS (Wi-Fi) receiver show as a connected device?
No: Stop Here. Connect the Wi-Fi GPS receiver. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for doing this.
Yes: Continue to the next step.
STEP 3: Does the GPS (Wi-Fi) receiver have an unrestricted view of the sky?
No: Stop here. Move the GPS (Wi-Fi) receiver to a location where it can get a good signal from the GPS satellite constellation. If in a building or airplane, move the GPS (Wi-Fi) receiver to a location where it can get an optimal view of the sky without obstruction.
Yes: Continue to the next step.
STEP 4: Within ForeFlight, under More > Settings, is Enable Ownship set to Always?
To check this, open ForeFlight, go to More, and then Settings. Scroll almost all the way down to Enable Ownship.
No: Stop here. Set Enable Ownship to Always.
Yes: Continue to the next step.
STEP 5: Does restarting the ForeFlight app cause the GPS position information to display?
No: Continue to the next step.
Yes: Stop here.
STEP 6: Perform a hard reboot of your device. Does this solve the GPS problem?

Once that is done, turn Wi-Fi on by going to the iPad Settings > Wi-Fi. Select the GPS (Wi-Fi) device. Did that allow the GPS position to show in ForeFlight?
