To file a flight plan and operate in Canadian ADS-B-mandated airspace, aircraft profiles need to be updated to indicate the equipment installed.
For background, Nav Canada is implementing an ADS-B requirement. The implementation will go into effect as follows:
- Class A airspace (airspace between 18,000 ft and 60,000 ft) commencing 10 August 2023.
- Class B airspace commencing 16 May 2024.
- Class C, D, and E airspace commencing no earlier than 2026.
For details on what is required concerning equipage identification on the flight plan and accommodating unequipped aircraft or state aircraft, see Nav Canada's Aeronautical Information Circular 10/23.
