If a maneuver is missing or a straight line is shown where the maneuver should be, the missing flight data can be due to many reasons, but the most common ones are:
- Loss of satellite visibility. If a GPS receiver can't receive satellites, then the quality of a flight recording is reduced. Be sure to locate the GPS receiver where it will have satellite reception (clear view of the sky) during the flight attitudes flown.
- Device overheating. If the GPS receiver is located in a position that contributes to an overheating condition, such as in sunlight, then the process of recording or transmitting GPS data can be halted until the device cools.
- Device case interference. When using an iPad or iPhone, some cases can interfere with your GPS reception.
- Electrically heated windshields. Electrically heated windshields can interfere with GPS accuracy. Relocating the GPS receiver away from the windshield may improve GPS reception.
